This morning, Kyiv Zoo Director Kirill Trantin reported: “All our employees and animals are alive and well.” Lists are currently being compiled of which special animal feed is most urgently needed at the zoos in Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkiv and elsewhere in Ukraine.

Our team is also looking at ways we can help that go beyond financial aid. The staff in Ukraine are doing their very best in this exceptional situation: “We are trying to keep the animals occupied and give them the opportunity to get out and about in the fresh air,” says Trantin.

The video shows a tiny newborn lemur that keepers in Kyiv are currently looking after.
